Answer the Call to Arms!

Raising over $6,000 with StackUpDotOrg in early 2020 to support connectivity and community through gaming for Veterans – it was clear that we at GamerLoop Network would gladly accept the opportunity to do so again.

WHEN: November 9th to 14th
WHERE: Our Twitch Channels Below!
OUR GOAL: To raise $3,000 in support of our Veterans! This equals 3 Supply Crates filled with everything they need to start gaming!

Sage’s Connection to the Cause

For my full-story about Mike, a Vietnam Veteran and Marine, an active force for good in the community, and a father figure who played a profound role in MY life, you can read my full story here: Sage & GLN Join the cause with StackUP

When StackUp reached out to me and I read their mission, I was in tears. Even now I’m tearing up thinking of it. Whether through Supply Crates packed with video games and consoles, Air Assaults all expense paid trips for veterans to attend gaming and geek culture events, The Stacks volunteers who bring comfort and friendship to veterans coping with PTSD or transitioning back to civilian life, or the Overwatch Program’s 24/7 crisis intervention and peer to peer mental health support for veterans and civilians alike – my duty to myself and more importantly, my duty to the Vietnam Veteran and Marine in my life was clear. THIS is how I can give back. THIS is a way I can repay the immeasurable and profound effect Mike had on my life.

VeritaAmore’s Connection to the Cause

As someone who has not served in any of the branches of the armed forces, but having several friends and family members that either are currently serving or have served, I feel an immense sense of pride having that connection, friendship or family, knowing the work they did or are still doing is important.

I had previously heard of StackUP only in passing, thinking “Wow what a great organization, their work is really important.” However the connection solidified for me when I watched my friend Sage stream and raise money for StackUP, and listening to his story and seeing the community come together made me more motivated and passionate about this cause. We as gamers have a connection to video games that does so many different things on so many different levels. Our brothers and sisters serving in the branches of the armed forces need this connection as well, which is why the work StackUP does is so important. Video games give us the ability to break away from the day to day, hit the reset button, and connect to something stress relieving, challenging, and fun.

We as streamers have an incredible platform with which to share our voices in advocacy of what matters to us and our community. For me, mental health is very important, and especially important to those serving abroad. I am honored to be participating in this event, and to be part of a gaming community like GamerLoop network, making those connections stronger, and bringing everyone together.

Neutron’s Connection to the Cause

I’m an Engineer by day and a Gamer by night. My day job as a Systems Engineer in the aerospace industry directly supports our U.S. armed forces and allies. I always felt a sense of pride for the work we do in support of our military, but wondered if there was something else I could do in support.

It wasn’t until earlier this year that I saw my good friend Orenji iro Sage sign up and participate in StackUp’s Call to Arms to help raise money and awareness of StackUp’s mission “To Fight the effects of depression, combat injuries, and post-traumatic stress by bringing veterans and civilians together through the “shared language” of gaming”.

For gamers finding an online gaming community that feels like a family or like a second home is difficult, but once you find it you can create friendships that can last a life-time and help you through some rough spots in your life. This is something I feel we are trying to do with GamerLoop Network that aligns with StackUp.
